How do we classify objects to their given categories?

Students should be able to sort objects based on their similarities and differences. For example, the different shapes, sizes, or colors. They should be able to recognize a pattern based on their observations. Students should also know how to count numbers to determine the number of objects in each category. Lastly, they should be able to compare numbers to determine whether the number of objects is greater than or less than the other objects.
What skills are needed to master this standard?
Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count.
