Vikings came from an area in Northern Europe called Scandinavia. They were very powerful from AD 800 to AD 1100 . The word ‘Viking’ means ‘piracy’, because of how Vikings lived their lives. Vikings used boats to travel around the world. These boats were called longships. The longest longships were up to 37 metres long! Vikings travelled across oceans to different places.They often looked for things to steal. Land, gold, and food were some of the things Vikings sought. The Vikings had very scary and strong warriors. These fighters were very organised and brave in battle. Viking warriors used axes, spears, and swords as weapons. Vikings believed in many different gods. One of the gods was Thor. Thor was the god of thunder. A very important god was Odin. Odin was the god of war.
