​Simple present

Digunakan untuk menyatakan tindakan yang terjadi secara berulang-ulang atau menjadi kebiasaan.

Ada 2 jenis kalimat simple present: Nominal dan verbal.

Rumus:

Kalimat nominal : S + be (am, is, are) + Adj/noun/adverb

Untuk subjek: I (am), He,she it (is) dan You, they, we (are)

Contoh:

1.	I am happy
2.	Ana is a teacher
3	Father and mother are in the park.

​Kalimat verbal : S +V1

Untuk Subjek He, she,it (V1 +s/es), I, you,they, we (V1 tanpa s/es)

Contoh:

1.	Doni
2.	Dina and I
3.	The man always

​Kata kerja(V1) yang berakhiran ch, sh, z, x,s,o, y, dll ditambah –es, selain itu hanya ditambah -s saja.

Khusus akhiran -y yang diawali konsonan maka huruf –y dihilangkan diganti –i kemudian ditambah –es.

Berikut contoh kalimat positive (+), negative(-) dan iterogative( ?)

1.	(+)The cat
	(-) The cat does not
	(?) Does the cat
2	(+)They go to the beach every Saturday.
	(-) They do not go to the beach every Saturday.
	(?) Do they go to the beach every Saturday? Yes, they do/No, they do not.

​Untuk membentuk kalimat negative khusus subjek He, she, it ditambah –does +not/ doesn’tdan kata kerja (V1) kembali ke bentuk awal tanpa imbuhan –s/es. Begitu pula untuk kalimat tanya/interogative  –does diletakkah di awal kalimat, kata kerja kembali ke bentuk awal tanpa imbuhan –s/es. Does di awal artinya apakah?

Untuk membentuk kalimat negative khusus subjek I, you, they, we sebelum kata kerja ditambah –do not /don’t kata kerja masih tetap utuh. Kemudian untuk membentuk kalimat interogative/pertanyaan –Do diletakkan di awal kalimat yang artinya –apakah?

Adverb of time (kata keterangan waktu) yang biasa digunakan: today, everyday, on Sundays, three times a week, every nights, once a day, dll.Adverb of frequency (kata keterangan frekuensi) yang umum digunakan: always, often, usually, sometimes, seldom/rarely, never.
