Assessment and Student Data

I chose to create a formative assessment to accompany my first lesson plan. Quizizz is a great tool to show the progress of student's learning, but I believe creating a summative assessment could create some problems. The lesson and assessment are suited for students who may be entering the academic and technological world for the first time. Having a summative assessment using Quizizz could cause external factors that may affect the students' grades, such as trouble using the tool or internet problems that cause unanswered questions. The assessment I created is simple enough to grasp the understanding of a kindergarten classroom after a lesson without assigning final grades. Quizizz collects the data of correct answers in live time while taking the assessment or throughout the lesson. Students will be able to see their results for questions that have an assigned correct answer as well see their position on a leaderboard sorted by how fast and accurate they are, while short response questions can be reviewed after by the teacher. After the quiz or lesson has been completed, a report will be made and can be viewed right after, shared via email, or later seen in the reports tab of the website. A report will display the accuracy of the entire class, individual student reports (that can be shared to parents who have a Quizizz account), and results for individual questions. For this specific lesson, I would be able to review this information and decipher if my class has understood the concept of counting after my lesson plan; if scores are low, I would first check if the issue is the usage of the tool, or if the material itself was too difficult. As this math objective takes longer than one lesson to master, I would understand if not all students completely grasped the content, and would move to adjust methods of repeating the main ideas of the standard.
