North Carolina Movement

November 15, 1894

  • Helen Morris Lewis organized a meeting in support of women's suffrage in Asheville, North Carolina.

  • A week later, the North Carolina Equal Suffrage Ass​ociation was formed!

  • It did not last long, unfortunately​

  • Gertrude Weil started it back up in Charlotte, NC

  • Many people fought it - even other women!​
