Reported speach

• Mowy zależnej (reported speech) używamy, kiedy przytaczamy czyjąś wypowiedź.

• Do wprowadzenia mowy zależnej w zdaniach twierdzących i przeczących używamy czasowników tell lub say.

• Uwaga! Po czasowniku tell należy podać osobę, do której była skierowana oryginalna wypowiedź.

Direct speech - Reported speech

Present Simple - Past Simple

• 'My cousin lives in Krakow.' - She said (that) her cousin lived in Krakow.​

​Present Continuous - Past Continuous

• 'I'm helping my neighbours.' - He said (that​) he was helping his neighbours.

​

Past Simple - Past Perfect

• 'We saw our new flatmate.' - He told me (th​at) they had seen their new flatmate.

Present Perfect - Past Perfect

• 'I have called my colleague.' - She said (that) she had called her colleague.

will/won't - would/wouldn't

• 'My best mate will come soon.' - He said (that) his best mate would come soon.

can/can't - could/couldn't

• 'My mother-in-law can speak Ukrainian.' - She told us (that) her mother-in-law could speak Ukrainian.
