​In English, the present progressive is expressed:

am / is / are [verb]-ing

You can only use this tense when the action is happening

right now.

Take off the -AR and add

-ANDO.

  • tomar --> tomando

  • doblar --> doblando

  • hablar --> hablando

  • cruzar --> cruzando

-IENDO.

  • comer --> comiendo

  • vivir --> viviendo

  • vender --> vendiendo

Take off the -AR and add

-ANDO.

​​If a verb ends in -IR annnnnd has a stem change, the present participle will have a stem change as well.

  • The​ O will change to a U.

    • Example: The present participle of DORMIR ​is: durmiendo

  • The​ E will change to an I.

    • Example: The present participle of SERVIR ​is: sirviendo
