Present perfect

​"I have just learnt a new tense!"

• verbal tense used to talk about experiences up to now

• we are not interested in when exactly something happened

• when we know the exact time when something happened: past simple

Past simple vs present perfect

I have been in some plays at the theatre.

Present perfect

Last year, I was in our school play.​

Past simple

​Present perfect:

subject + have / has + past participle

I have arrived.

He has finished.​
