Adverbial Phrases

​Adverbial phrases

A group of words that describe how actions are done. We call it adverbial phrases of manner. ​

One way to do this is to add an adverbial phrase beginning with the preposition 'with'.

Example: The acrobat balanced himself with great calm. ​

1. Using some prepositions: in, ​despite

2. ​Using verb -ing

The men set me on my way with cheers of good luck as I launched my raft and sailed away upstream. ​It did not remain gentle for very long however. Soon I was clinging on for dear life as I was swept along at great speed, sloshing form one side of the diamond cave to another. The further I got the less light there was to reflect on the diamonds, and before long I was in pitch darkness and had completely lost my roars.
