Reflexive verbs

​Reflexive verbs don't exist in English!

We must change the pronoun and then conjugate the verb!​

​Me lavo las manos y la cara. 'I wash my hands and my face.

​

'Me cepillo los dientes. 'I brush my teeth.

​

'Me pongo una falda y una blusa. 'I put on a skirt and a blouse.'

Deber

Deber is a verb that means 'should.' I should wash the dishes. I should walk the dogs. I should study more!

The key is that deber is conjugated and the verb after it is NOT conjugated!

Deber with a reflexive verb

​Deber is conjugated to the subject and is

then followed by an infinitive.

If the infinitive is a reflexive verb

(ex: maquillarse), the ending pronoun

may need to be changed based on

the subject!
