Matte eyeshadow is one of the many different textures of eyeshadow. All matte eyeshadows are flat colors without any shimmer or glitter. Typically, you would use matte eyeshadow as the 'base' color. Putting this base on before any other colors or textures, prevents the eyeshadow from looking streaky.
Matte textured
Shimmer textured eyeshadow is more of a less natural/basic look. Shimmery eyeshadow usually has specks of glitter in it, causing it to sparkle when light hits the eye. This, you would place on top of a matte eyeshadow to prevent streaks. When doing eyeshadow, you want to prevent an 'overdone' look. By lightly layering the eyeshadows, the outcome is a beautifully blended look.
Shimmer textured
Cream textured eyeshadow, looks and feels exactly how it sounds. It has more of a creamy texture, leaving the eye looking very well blended and like matte textured, can be used as a base for other eyeshadows.

As i stated before, matte eyeshadow is just your typical eyeshadow. It contains zero shimmer and is used for a more basic eyeshadow look, and is mainly used on a day to day basis.

This is an example of what shimmery eyeshadow looks like on the eye. Unlike matte textured eyeshadow, this shimmery textured eyeshadow has many specks of glitter in it. You can see in this picture, she used a matte eyeshadow as the base for the shimmer. This look would typically be used for a special occasion.

Here is an example of what cream textured eyeshadow looks like on the eye. As you can see, cream textured has more of a vibrant outcome, because the cream is a thicker texture. Cream eyeshadow comes in many different colors as well as the other textured eyeshadows.
