​What's the difference?

What's the difference between the two images?

• TELL you the temperature.

• They only reflect the climate.

​​Thermometers

• Regulates the temperature.

• Takes action to make changes to the room.

​​Thermostats

Why does this matter?

People influence the culture of a workplace, team, family, etc.

• ​Leaders, teams, companies, even families, can fall into this.

• Temperature fluctuates depending on who is in the room or what happens day to day. 

• The team culture and atmosphere varies day by day depending on the what is going on and who is in the room.

Thermometer Mode

The best leaders, teams and company cultures operate more in thermostat mode. 

• They are very clear about their vision and what temperature they are trying to set. 

• They are intentional.

• They communicate consistently

• When it gets too hot in a room, they are able to regulate the temperature back down. 

• When there is no life in a room, they are able to breathe life and warmth into the environment.

  • Examples: honesty, punctual, positive, no gossip, etc.

• This adds value to others.
