Roaring Engines

In Sci-Fi movies, they depict spaceships with having big, loud, noisy engines that shoot out flames. These scenes would be incorrect! In space, there is no sound!

Why Is There No Sound In Space?

Both Sound and Light are forms of Energy. Sound travel as Waves through Matter. Light is different! Light does not need matter to travel through. That's why we can see, even in space where there is an absence of matter! This explains why we can see an explosion in space, but can't hear it.
