Each tool does this in a different way.

These tools are used to make more aggressive, specialized or unique changes to the surface.

You can change the properties of each sculpting tool at the top of the screen.
Or, use the Tool Properties panel on the right side of the screen.

On smaller screens, if you scroll the mouse wheel while over the tool settings bar, it will scroll to show tools off the screen.
Or, scroll down in the Tool Properties.
