Frontier Wars
After the Civil War, the United States fought a series of wars against the Native Americans living in Texas because in the eyes of Anglo Texans, they were a major barrier to westward expansion.

During: Frontier Wars
Medicine Lodge Treaty stated Native Americans would move to reservations in Oklahoma and stop raiding white settlements in exchange for food and supplies. Many Natives did not agree to this treaty and fighting continued.
Following the Salt Creek Massacre, where 100 natives raided a wagon train at Salt Creek and killed 7 Anglos, more federal soldiers were sent to Texas to enforce the reservation policy.
Troops targeted Indian villages, capturing food, blankets, and other useful supplies then burned down villages and killed many horses. The army also destroyed the buffalo, the major food source and trade item for the Comanche and Kiowa peoples.

Cattle Drives
Cattle drives are when a herd of cattle are moved north using cowboys to bring the cattle to towns with rail stations. Then the cattle were sent by rail to the northern states where they would be slaughtered for meat.

Supply and Demand of Cattle
Demand and supply are connected to price. As the price increases, people will buy less of it, or the demand decreases. If the price of the product decreases, demand will increase.
