What the last slide meant was that you need to multiple 2 by itself?

So you can do this: 2 x 2

What that means is that you will multiply the 2 by itself 3 times like this:

2 x 2 x 2

Here is a new math vocabulary word for you!

P E M D A S .... think about how many letters you know the answer to?

Think about the math operations you already know!

You should know at least 4 letters.

By Jesus Aldape Quezada

11

What PEMDAS is that you will do 5 operations starting Left to Right.

Ok, so the P stands for Parentheses.

The E stands for Exponent (we just used exponents in in the first slides, remember, let me refresh your memory 22 and 23 )

The rest you should know! M = multiply D = / A = + and S = -

Let me show you how we work a problem that has to do with PEMDAS.

5 (10 x 5) / 5

In this exercise we will start by doing what is inside the parenthesis first.

So, 10 x 5 = 50. Since we don't have E, we move to M. Now we do have M!

The number next to the ( ) parenthesis means to multiply. So, that 50 we got from 10 x 5 we're gonna multiply it by 5 ---> 50 x 5 = 250

Then, after we did M, the next step is to D. So, 250 divided by 5 = 50.
