Climate Change Review
2
What is climate change?
Climate change means a global change in climate from the usual that includes temperature changes.
Climate change impacts:
the frequency of droughts and storms
the frequency of heat waves
the temperature of the ocean

3
How the weather behaves over short periods of time.
Ex: In the morning, the weather was sunny and warm, but by the afternoon the weather was cold.
Weather
How the atmosphere behaves over long periods of time.
Ex: the climate is in the valley has become drier and warmer in the last 50 years.

Climate vs. Weather
4
The sun provides light that is converted into heat (energy).
Greenhouse gases will keep some heat in while releasing the rest.
The more greenhouse gases, the more heat is trapped in the atmosphere.
How will heat normally enter the atmosphere?
5
What effects climate change?
Greenhouse Gases
there are many, many gases in the atmosphere, The major greenhouses gases include:
CO2, CH4, N2O and H2O vapor.
Human activity that produce greenhouse gases include:
combustion of fossil fuels, agriculture and waste management.
6
Draw
Draw and label a comparison of how heat enters earth with a normal atmosphere vs. one with more greenhouse gases.
7
Open Ended
In your drawing, what was missing or mislabeled based on the correct answer? (if any).
8
Draw
Draw and label one example of the greenhouse effect we see everyday. (How is it similar to the greenhouse effect on the planet?)
9
Open Ended
How is the greenhouse effect you drew similar to the greenhouse effect on the planet?
10
Multiple Choice
In the movie Chasing Coral, how did greenhouse gases play a role in the death of coral reefs?
The gases were poured into the ocean and contaminated the water.
Pollution caused by human activity entered the coral reefs.
They trapped more heat into the atmosphere and that heat was absorbed by the ocean.
They allow heat to escape and leave the coral with not enough light.
