Lesson 8

1. Adjective:

- Definition: a word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically related to a noun to modify or describe it.

• Usually ends with: -al​ -ful -ive -able -ous -cult -ish -ed -y(ly)​​

- How to use:

​1. Before a noun	​a beautiful girl, a handsome boy, ...
2. After "to be"	​he is handsome
​3. After verbs that express emotions	​she feels tired
​4. After "something, someone, anything, anyone"	something is wrong​
​5. Keep/Make + 0 + Adj	​make me beautiful

​2. Noun:

- Definition: a word (other than a pronoun) used to identify any of a class of people, places, or things​.

• Usually ends with: "​-tion", "-sion", "-ment", "-ce", "-ness", "-y", "-er /-or"

- How to use:​

​1. After "to be"	​I am a student
​2. After an Adjective	a beautiful dress​

​3. Verb and Adverb

​a. Verb:

- ​Definition: a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence.

- ​Usually comes after Subject and Adverb that describe frequency.

b. Adverb:

- Definition: a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group​.

- ​Usually comes after a verb, an object.

- Notes: ​Adverbs can go first in a sentence or before a verb to emphasize the main meaning in a sentence
