Aangeplakte vragen gebruik je om bevestiging te vragen. Je kent het ook wel in het Nederlands, denk maar aan: toch? Of: niet dan?

​Wat is een question tag?

​

Aangeplakte vragen gebruik je om bevestiging te vragen. Bij een aangeplakte vraag in het Engels wordt het onderwerp en het werkwoord herhaald. Oftewel om wie het gaat en waarover.

Als de zin bevestigend is, is de aangeplakte vraag ontkennend:

• His friend is nice, isn't he?

• These castles are really old, aren't they?

Na een zin met "I am" gebruik je in de aangeplakte vraag "aren't I".

• I am clever, aren't I?

Als de zin ontkennend is, is de aangeplakte vraag bevestigend:

• They can't help us, can they?

• He isn't here right now, is he?

Als er in de zin een vorm staat van to be (am / are / is) of een hulpwerkwoord (zoals have / can / should / may / will), herhaal je die vorm in de aangeplakte vraag:

• The holiday is fantastic, isn't it?

• They have been playing all day, haven't they?

• They should take some time off, shouldn't they?

• They would like to win, wouldn't they?

In alle andere gevallen gebruik je de "dummy-do":

• They never talk about money, do they?

• She loves him, doesn't she?

• John moved to Italy, didn't he?

• Als de zin bevestigend is, is de aangeplakte vraag ontkennend

• Als de zin ontkennend is, is de aangeplakte vraag bevestigend

• Als er in de zin een vorm staat van to be (am / are / is) of een hulpwerkwoord (zoals have / can / should / may / will), herhaal je die vorm in de aangeplakte vraag

• In alle andere gevallen gebruik je de "dummy-do"
