Troy Destroyed

Troy was a major Mediterranean city in the Bronze Age. Historians believe it was built around 3000 BCE, meaning it is one of the oldest cities ever. Yet little is known about Troy. For a long time, archaeologists have debated its existence as there are very few written sources referring to it. However, in 1871, archaeologists discovered what is now agreed to be the ancient ruins of Troy, in modern-day Turkey.

Read and Answer

Troy Destroyed

It is believed that Troy’s strategic position near both the sea and a large river were important for its development. The river provided fresh water for inhabitants to drink and use for farming. This meant the Trojans always had plenty of food and water, so they could focus on other things like trade. Historians have suggested that they developed very good boats to help with this trade overseas.
