Writing a letter/email in Spanish

You must start the letter/email with a greeting! 

 

To start a letter in Spanish to someone with a title (a formal letter), use:

 

Estimado or Estimada ("Dear")and the person's name (followed by a comma)

 

 

            For example: If you are writing to Sr. Perez, you would start your letter with

 

                     Estimado Sr. Perez,

For Sra. Díaz you would start with: Estimada Sra. Díaz​,
