CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.MD.B.3

Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count.1

What skills are needed to master this standard?

Students should be able to describe the objects in different groups by naming them and identifying how many objects are in a given section (by counting them). Students should be able to find the differences in the categories based on how many objects are in each category. For example, if there are 5 jackets, 4 gloves, and 3 hats, students should be able to identify the number of objects for each category and sort them in different sections by identifying which category has more objects and placing them in order.
