Preface

All praise is to God, the Almighty, who has given His blessings to the author for finishing this book entitled “English for Beauty Study Program”. It was developed for Grade X students of the Beauty Study Program of Vocational High School based on Curriculum 2013. This book concentrated on teaching and learning reading skills.

English for Beauty Study Program is divided into three sections, each with a different theme that covers three different topics. They are She has Curly Hair, When will the Event be Held, My Best Makeup Look Ever. The content for these reading learning materials was selected based on the students' needs and in accordance with their area of study.

Hopefully, this book will be beneficial to students, particularly to enrich their knowledge and enhance their reading skill in their learning reading. The author realizes that this book is imperfect. Therefore, any criticisms and advice for improving this book are welcome.

What is Announcement Text?

An announcement is a text that informs the reader about something. The information of the announcement is usually presented to public whether in a spoken or written form. Its purpose is to give the reader some information of what has happened or what will happen.

Where do you find a spoken announcement?

Mass media e.g., radio, television

Public places e.g., school, mall, airport, train station

Where do you find a written announcement?

School wall magazine

Newspaper, magazine, tabloid, e.g., job vacancy, missing people

The generic structure of the announcement text

Title/head : is the title of the announcement
Content/body : is the content of the announcement
Closing : is the end of the announcement
Writer : is the one who makes the announcement

The announcement usually contains:
to whom the announcement is for ,the purpose of announcement itself, when the event will be held ( day, date , time ), where the event will take place, and who makes the announcement.
Here some tips to write announcement:
Write your announcement straightforward so the reader can easily get the information
Keep it short, inviting, and to the point
Make the information clear and complete
