WHAT IS PARENTERAL IRON THERAPY?

§Parenteral iron therapy is occasionally necessary for patients intolerant or unresponsive to oral iron therapy, for receiving recombinant erythropoietin therapy, or for use in treating functional iron deficiency anemia. 

§There are 5 types of parenteral iron:

 1) Iron Sucrose

 2) Iron Dextran

 3) Sodium Ferric Gluconate

 4) Ferumoxytol

 5) Ferric Carboxymaltose​
