The employer is an individual or an organization in the government, private, non-profit, or business sector that hires and pays people for their work.

​The majority of businesses are small with only 1- 4 employees

All employers in Australia are subject to the same responsibilities and requirements which include the provision of

adequate wages/salaries

necessary education and training

contribution to superannuation

essential rights to employees (breaks, supervision)

Government organisations such as the Fair Work Commission hold employers responsible for implementing these.
