2D shapes

Also known as 'plane shapes'

2D shapes are flat shapes with only 2 dimensions (length and breadth)

Examples from our everyday life are; square rubber stamps, square tiles on the floor, square paper napkins, chess boards, virtual keyboard keys, and so on.

They are flat shapes because they have no height.

3D shapes

Also known as 'solid shapes'

3D shapes are solid shapes with three dimensions (lenght, breadth and height)

Example from our everyday life; cups, clocks, bottles, LegoTM bricks, containers, books, and so on.
