• In 1947, a shepherd found the Dead Sea Scrolls. Many of the pieces were broken into tiny bits.

• In 1948, he sold them to an antiquities dealer.

• In 1949, the dealer sold them to Hebrew University.

• By 1952, the scholars realized the importance of the Dead Sea Scrolls. This led to exploring all 11 caves and 15,000 pieces of scrolls were found.
