Soccer - sepak bola - is one of the most popular sports in the world. Thousands of people are lucky to attend games where they can view the action firsthand and there are even more who watch the action from the comfort of their own homes. Indonesia is of course is no exception! Not only are the Indonesian fans passionate about their local teams, but they equally are fanatical about the international soccer matches, which are often televised across multiple TV channels during the week.

In Jakarta, and other major cities in Indonesia, and rural towns alike - you can often see children and adults playing the game on vacant land, parks, and proper sports fields. The condition of the playing fields can vary from a well kept soccer pitch to a regular field shared with cows. Uniforms of the players range from a formal sponsored team uniform to bare feet and whatever top you have. Either way, sepak bola is a popular game that can be played by everyone.

​The national emblem (coat of arms) for Indonesia is called Garuda Pancasila. The Garuda is a mythical golden eagle which holds a shield. The actual eagle has 17 feathers on each wing, 8 feathers on its tail and 45 feathers on its neck.

The shield has five different images (star, chain, banyan tree, bull and cotton and rice) on it that represent the values of Indonesia.

The Garuda is also gripping a banner that has Indonesia's motto on it: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Which translates to 'Unity in Diversity'.​
