Latitude Definition
The imaginary horizontal line that passes through the centre of the Earth marks as the base for other parallel imaginary lines covering the planet. These imaginary horizontal lines are called Parallels of Latitude.
The word 'latitude' originates from the Latin word latus meaning wide.
