Climate
The Rocky Mountain has mild summers, cold winters, and a lot of rain and snow, and at night the temperature could drop to below zero. In the summer, there are sunny mornings, afternoon thunderstorms, and clear nights. In the fall, cool crisp days often give wind and rain at night.

Plants and Animals
Mule deer, pronghorn, antelope, black bears, brown bears, bighorn sheep, wolves, coyotes, and mountain lions. The animals have adapted to the steep terrain. Some animals even shed their dark fur and grown lighter fur so they can blend in with the snow.

Settlement Patterns
The mountains provided protection from the hostile Indian tribes, the river offered water for farming. Santa Fe is the largest city in the Rocky Mountain Province.

The Rocky Mountain are Home to a Super volcano. Bighorn Sheep Rule the Rocky Mountains. There are Still Many Indigenous People Living in the Rockies. Athabasca Glacier is the Most-Visited Glacier in North America.

Colorado Plateau Province
Climate:
At the lower elevations of the Plateau, temperatures range from 20F to the 90F. At higher elevations, summer temperatures rarely exceed 70 degrees, and winter temperatures in the single digits are common.

Plants And Animal Life
The plateau supports desert plants, such as blackbrush shadscale as well as rich, grassy meadows. There are Mice, rats, prairie dogs, gophers, squirrels, and more live at the lower elevations.

Settlement Patterns
The Colorado Plateau Province is not as populated as other parts of the state. However it is home to many Navajo Indians. The Navajo Nation the largest Indian reservation in the United States. The Navajo Nation cover four corner region of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. New Mexicans have settled in this region because of its mineral resources.

Elevation for the Colorado Plateaus starts at about 610 m, 2,000 ft above sea level. The Colorado plateau is 600 million years old.

Great Plains Province
Climate:
the plains experience cold winters and warm summers, with low precipitation and humidity, much wind, and sudden changes in temperature. More rainfall occurs in summer than in winter, except in some of the northwestern parts of the Great Plains.

The Basin And Rang Province have an area of approximately 1,125,000 square miles 2,900,000 kilometers, roughly equivalent to one-third of the United States.

Basin And Range Province climate
The Province is insanely hot. The hottest recorded temperature was on July 14th, 1934. It was 116F. It is a dry climate.

There is a Air Force Base known as the Holloman Air Force Base. After war they would start to make missiles at the base. The Alamogordo's population includes a large percentage of government workers and retirees as well as people who work in the tourist industry.

The landscape is known scientifically as a basin and range system. One of the most interesting basin and range facts is that the large number of mountain ranges within the Great Basin means that Nevada is the most mountainous state in the nation.

Spanish Settlers
Spanish conquerors moved north of the Rio Grande in 1598 hoping to find gold and silver.
Instead they found modest towns where Native peoples lived in adobe houses and practiced irrigation agriculture.
