Storage

Data is sent to the CPU, from either a user or another machine (i.e. sensor)

Takes data from the CPU and the output is the result that is generated after the processing of data.

The CPU will process that data, and perform a set of programmed instructions, which are then sent to the output device. During processing, the data, running instructions and output are stored temporarily in the main memory.

Storage devices can feed data to the CPU when the data is needed, and accept data from the CPU. Storage supplements the computers main memory, to permanently store data and instructions that can be called upon.
