After a computer has processed data, it provides the results in the form of output. There are four types of output: text, graphics, video, and audio.

Characters such as letters, symbols, and numbers are called text. To be considered text, the characters must be organized in a coherent way.

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) - ​lighter and use less power than CRTs

Makes a paper copy of the display shown on a monitor.

Impact Printer - receives signals from the computer that cause hammers or pins to press a ribbon covered in ink; can be noisy; the quality of the image is poor compared to nonimpact printers

Nonimpact Printer - ​such as inkjet and laser printers; use of ink and lasers to produce the image on the paper
