Past Simple

We use Past Simple to talk about a completed action in a time before now. We use it when we know when the action happened.

Future Simple (will + verb)

We use Future Simple to predict the future, make offers or requests, when making a decision at the moment of speaking.

Example:

​They will wake up at 7 o'clock.

​I will help you with your homework.

A: I'm cold. B: I'll close the window.​

Future Simple (be going to)

We can use be going to to talk about the future as well. Usually, it sounds more certain than will, since we have evidence or made plans ahead.

Example:

A: We've run out of milk. B: I know, I'm going to buy some.

The sky is getting darker and darker. It's going to rain.​
