Verbs followed by

"to" or "-ing".

Grammar U3

2

What is this about?

Some verbs are followed by "-to", other are followed by a verb in the "-ing" form and some are followed by both "-to" and "-ing".

For example:

When I was 21, I decided to become an architect.

Marco kept falling asleep at his desk.

Unfortunately, there are no rules to help you work out whether the verbs are followed by the infinitive , or the "-ing" form, or either, so you will need to learn them by heart.
