How do we punctuate a dialogue?​

Put speech marks before and after spoken wor​ds.

Capitalise the first word inside the speech marks.

Use a comma after any words introducing the speech.

Start a new line when a new person speaks.

If the narrative indicating who spoke 9e.g. she said) comes after the speech,put the comma,exclamation or question mark (never a full stop) before closing the speech marks with no capital letter for the word that ​follows.
