What are kinetic and potential energy?
Some text here about the topic of discussion
2
Energy can't be created or destroyed. It can only be stored and transferred to something else.
Some text here about the topic of discussion.

3
Everything in the universe is either matter or energy. Energy is the ability to do work. Everything that happens in the world uses energy.
Some text here about the topic of discussion.
What is energy?
4
All matter is made of particles that never stop moving. This movement causes matter to move from one state to another. Slow moving particles are solids. Faster moving are liquids. Fastest moving are gases.
These are water molecules in different states.

6
Potential energy is stored in an object. It has he ability to do something later on.
Potential energy
Kinetic energy is the energy of a moving object. "Kinetic" means movement. When stored energy is being used, it is making things happen.
Kinetic energy
7
Multiple Choice
Are the baseball players demonstrating potential or kinetic energy?
kinetic because they are running and throwing
potential because they are standing still
8
Multiple Choice
Is this car demonstrating potential or kinetic energy?
kinetic becasue the car is moving
potential because the car is setting still
9
Potential is stored so it can be used EVENTUALLY. Potential energy is based on location and mass. The higher the object, the more potential energy it has. The more mass it has, the more potential energy it has.
Dropping an apple from the crane.
Examples of potential energy
10
Potential energy to kinetic energy
When potential energy begins to move, the object transfers the energy from potential to kinetic energy.
From now on, let's abbreviate potential energy as PE and kinetic energy as KE.
11
KInetic energy is energy in a moving object. The more mass an object has, the more kinetic energy it has. The faster an object is moving, the more kinetic energy it has.
Would you have more damage if you were hit by a speeding truck or a speeding car?
Examples of kinetic energy
12
Multiple Choice
KInetic or potential?
potential because the ball is setting still
kinetic because the ball is moving
13
Multiple Choice
Kinetic or potential?
Kinetic because the roller coaster is moving
Potential because the roller coaster is setting still
14
Multiple Choice
Kinetic or potential?
Kinetic because the cheetah is running
Potential because the cheetah is standing still
15
Multiple Choice
Kinetic or potential?
Kinetic because the man is moving.
Potential because the man is sitting.
16
Multiple Choice
Choose the example with the most potential energy (PE).
A feather laying on the floor
A feather laying on the edge of a high shelf
A feather laying on the edge of a building
17
Multiple Choice
Choose the example with the most kinetic energy (KE).
