5
INKJET PRINTER
6
» use dry powder ink
» make use of the properties of static electricity to produce the text and images
» print the whole page in one go
» use 4 toner cartridges – blue, cyan, magenta and black

2D AND 3D CUTTERS
Both work similar ways but the main difference is 3D recognize object in x-y-z axis and not just x-y.
Laser cutter can cut the following materials:
glass
crystal
metal
polymer
wood
12
Multiple Choice
Which statement is FALSE about 2D and 3D cutters? Select one (1) only
3D cutter recognize an object in x-y direction
3D cutter can cut crystal
3D cutter can cut polymer
3D cutter recognize an object in x-y-z direction
2D and 3D cutter works in a similar way

ACTUATORS
When a computer is used to control devices, such as a conveyer belt or a valve, it is usually necessary to use an actuator to, for example, start/stop the conveyer belt or open/close the valve
An actuator is a mechanical or electromechanical device such as a relay, solenoid or motor
14
ACTUATOR
15
MICROPHONE, SPEAKER, HEADPHONE/EARPHONE
16
SENSORS
Sensors are input devices which read or measure physical properties from their surroundings
However, computers cannot make any sense of these physical quantities so the data needs to be converted into a digital format. This is usually achieved by an analogue to digital converter (ADC)
When the computer is used to control devices, such as a motor or a valve, it is necessary to use a digital to analogue converter (DAC) since these devices need analogue data to operate in many cases.
Actuators are used in such control applications.
