Each state within the US has 1 state capital city.
Capitals were created within each state to contain the meeting place for its state's legislature and offices for the state's governor, though this is not true for every single state.
The US's first capital city was New York City in 1785.
Our capital city here in CA, is Sacramento.
The entire US also has 1 capital city, Washington DC.
