Why do you feel it may be important to understand Ephesians 1-3 before Ephesians 4-6?

5

How can our life fit our calling? (verse 4 'one hope that belongs to your call')

Ephesians 4-17 no longer walk as the Gentiles

5-2 walk in love as Christ loved us

5-8 walk as children of the light

5-15 look carefully ho you walk

6

1 Corinthians 1:22-24

22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Once called - Christ makes us alive - response is positive. Show God's love, don't just preach to unbelievers

7

Romans 8:28

228 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose.

8

How do we maintain the unity of the bond of peace? (verse 3)

9

Psalm 68:18

You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train and receiving gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the Lord God may dwell there.

v11-13

Apostles were witnesses to the resurrection; since the resurrection is the foundation of the church, the testimony of those who had seen the risen Jesus was the first Christian preaching. Early Christian prophets spoke in the name of the Lord, guiding and directing the church especially in the time before the New Testament was written. Evangelists announced to the surprised world that the crucified Jesus was risen from the dead, and was both Israel's Messiah and the world's true Lord. Pastors looked after the young churches; teachers developed and trained their understanding. They did this not least by setting out the many ways in which believing allegiance to Jesus linked Christians into the whole story and life of Israel, building on the promises of the Old Testament.

Mark 6:34

34 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.

12

Mark 6:34

34 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.

13

What is the importance of love in ministry?

What do you make of this quote 'truth without love is brutal, love without truth is hypocrisy'?

14

obedience = gain= God blessing

sin = loss = enemy foothold

Our designs influence our life like a plot of land, God can grow & can uproot!

15

v17-24 - behaviour change comes from heart change

v20 - learn Christ, relationally engage our body, mind, soul & spirit

v22&31 - put down old self, check it out like a book at the library!

v24 - don't go back for what you've already checked out

v25 - members of each other, we BELONG to each other

v25-32 - anger leaves an open door, how we speak can grieve the Holy Spirit

KINDNESS is one of the best imitates of God we can be & share with others

*Idenifty moods & behaviour patterns (maturity in overcoming sin)

Zechariah 8:16 - speaking truth is loving, in loving way
