What do you think would happen if there were no standards of quality and conformity in international trade? Try to think in terms of impact on:

- Consumers

​In the absence of quality or conformity standards in international trade, the following events could occur

​1. Foreign companies could export low-quality products that would break / deteriorate after just a few uses.

2. It would be impossible to know if purchased items are safe to use or if sold items are safe to consume.

3. It would be easy to export/import pollutants that would be harmful to health and the environment.

​In the absence of quality or conformity standards in international trade, the following events could occur

​In short, the international trading system would quickly collapse and business would become almost impossible. So while they may seem difficult to deal with, quality and compliance standards are actually very important in international trade.
