- Mr. Helle
" In between the bones with tendons at both ends is an overworked and underrated contractile tissue friend"
" My muscles move and groove me, guard entrances and exits, produce the heat that keeps me warm."
" My muscles support soft tissues, maintain my body's posture, help me run to shelter in the time of storm."
" Muscles I am grateful for you! Yeah yeah yeah, when you don't know what to sing you sing yeah yeah yeah."
7
Muscle is considered to be contractile tissue because it works by getting shorter.
(like a ratchet strap that ratchets super fast.)
8
Muscles can only pull, they can't push.
If you are pushing something, it is because muscles are pulling and getting shorter.
9
The three most important things about a muscle.
Origin - attachment of a muscle to a stationary
(non-moving) bone.
Insertion - attachment of a muscle to a moving bone.
Action - motion carried out by a muscle.
Where the ratchet straps attach and what bone moves when the muscle gets shorter.

Decrease the angle between bones
Increase the angle between bones
Spinning a bone on an axis.

Abduction - Move away from the midline
Adduction - Move toward the midline
