​PRAMBANAN TEMPLE

​

Prambanan temple is the largest Hindust temple complex in Indonesia. The temple was built in the 10th century and was dedicated to Shiva.  There are 8 big temples and 8 small temples at the main yard. There are also 222 smaller temple at the lower yard.

​

Inside the big temples, there are statues. There are statues of Sviva, Brahma, and Visnu. They are the Hindust three highest Gods. There are also other statues. One of the most popular is roro jonggrang statues. The legend tells that it was actually a girl that cursed to be a stone.

​

There is also relief about Ramayana at the temple wall. And we can also see Ramayana Ballet Dance at the temple complex at night.

DEFINITION OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Descriptive text is a text that describes or describes a person, animal or thing. This explanation or description includes the form, nature, amount, and others.

Descriptive text adalah suatu teks yang menjelaskan atau mendeskripsikan orang, hewan atau benda. Penjelasan atau deskripsi ini meliputi bentuk, sifat, jumlah, dan lain-lain.

GENERAL STRUCTURE

1. Identification (identifikasi): gambaran umum tentang suatu topik. 

2. Description (deskripsi): penjelasan berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang yang dideskripsikan.

LANGUAGE FEATURES

• Specific participant: memiliki objek tertentu, tidak bersifat umum dan unik (hanya ada satu). Misalnya: Uncle Jack, Borobudur Temple.

• Penggunaan adjective (kata sifat) untuk memperjelas noun (kata benda). Misalnya: a handsome man, a beautiful woman.

• Penggunaan simple present tense: Pola kalimat yang digunakan adalah simple present karena menceritakan fakta dari objek yang dideskripsikan.

• Action verbs: terdapat kata kerja yang menunjukkan sebuah kegiatan (aktivitasnya dapat dilihat). Misalnya: run, walk, cut, etc.
