​stopień wyższy

• do przymiotników krótkich (jednosylabowych, np. great, long) dodajemy końcówkę -er​, np. greater (większy), longer (dłuższy);

• w przypadku przymiotników dłuższych (wielosylabowych, np. interesting) ich stopień wyższy tworzymy przez dodanie przed nimi more​, np. more interesting (bardziej interesujący);

• aby porównać dwie osoby lub rzeczy używamy przymiotnika w stopniu wyższym oraz słowa than, np. This T-shirt is more colourful than the other one. (Ta podkoszulka jest bardzie kolorowa niż ta druga.)​

​stopień najwyższy

• do przymiotników krótkich (jednosylabowych, np. great, long) dodajemy końcówkę -est​, np. greatest (największy), longest (najdłuższy);

​Aby utworzyć przysłówek, należy dodać do przymiotnika końcówkę -ly,

np. quick- quickly, easy - easily.

​stopniowanie przysłówków

• Aby utworzyć stopień wyższy przysłówków z końcówką -ly, należy dodać ​more przed przysłówkiem, np. more easily (łatwiej).

• Aby utworzyć stopień najwyższy należy dodać the most przed przysłówkiem, np. the most easily (najłatwiej).​

Niektóre przysłówki mają taką samą formę, jak przymiotniki, np. hard, little, early, late, fast
