Archaic Greece
A period of the ancient Greece comprehended between 800 to 480 BCE

The term Archaic means old
This was a significant step forward to Greek Society
Many advances and developments were created or appeared during this period, wars were fought, governments systems were overthrone, new vocabulary appeared, and many other things happened throughout this period.
But the most important one is the creation of the Polis

Polis (/ˈpɒlɪs/, US: /ˈpoʊlɪs/; Greek: πόλις, Ancient Greek pronunciation: [pólis]), plural poleis (/ˈpɒleɪz/, πόλεις, Ancient Greek pronunciation: [póleːs]), literally means "city" in Greek. In Ancient Greece, it originally referred to an administrative and religious city center, as distinct from the rest of the city.
Later, it also came to mean the body of citizens under a city's jurisdiction.

During this period they experienced several transformations in the matter of government that led to the development of an early democracy at the end of the period.

Their economy at the beginning of the 8th century was mostly based on agriculture, Havig herds of Sheep and goats or even oxen, was considered a sign of exceptional wealth.
Coinage didn't exist for a while.

Their economy was based on the production of wheat and barley, in some areas the also produced, grapes, olives, fruits and vegetables.
They traded with lands al over the Agean and to the east.
Although they used barter an early money economy was exhibited by the ancient greeks, they used metal spits and objects as an exchange measured value.
Later in this period they adopted and expanded the use of coins across the ancient world.

Their culture grounded the bases of modern society
Thanks to their continuous development, they grew as a prominent land, and therefore influenced many cultures throughout the ancient world.
Their developments on writing, poetry, philosophy and many artistic areas as: Sculpture and potery, were the real deal.
They are considered the cradle of western civilization.

Greece was fragmented and with the independency of the different citystates it came also rivalry which lead in the end to many battles and wars. the most significant one of this period happened at the end around the year 490 BCE , this was called the first persian war.
