Least Common Multiple (LCM)
The smallest number that is a MULTIPLE of two or more numbers.
To find the LCM, find the prime factorization of each number using exponents.
List all the prime factors. If a the numbers share a prime factor, use the one with the greater power.
Find the LCM of 45 and 60.

The LCM can used to find the LCD (least common denominator) of two fractions.
Rewrite 1/9 and 1/15 using the least common denominator.
To add, subtract, or compare fractions, you MUST have a common denominator!
