​Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was one of the first recognized explorers to America. He was looking for a way to sail around the world to India. He accidently landed in America. He went back and told others of the new land and soon many were joining the expeditions into America. ​

Around 1608 French explorers soon created a new colony called "New France."

Samuel Champlain wanted to find an easy way to trade with Asia. They also used the Hudson River to get further into America. He succeeded and founded the Northwest passage. ​
