Essen

​Essen is a city in Germany with a population of 583.109 people.

​The name Essen actually means food in English.

​My school is one of seven comprehensive schools in Essen.

​We have two different buildings. The one on the photo holds grades 5-7. The other building holds grades 8-13.

You need about 10 minutes from a classroom in building A to one in building B.

​Our school program is all about ecological, social and democratic education. As we are an agenda 21 school, alongside the regular lessons, we try to foster sustainability, mindful behaviour, a praise culture, democracy etc.

We do so by concepts like our responsibility program (V-Pro) where students work in youth centers or in homes for senior citizens to give something back to society.​
