The Perfect Car
Kevin strolled out of his apartment, whistling as he locked the door behind him. He turned and stopped short when something sparkled and caught his eye. He looked to the left and saw the most perfect car he had ever seen. Kevin walked toward it for a closer look. The body gold, the trim was silver, and it beamed in the twinkling sunlight. He touched the hood of the car and felt that it was smooth. The vehicle looked as sleek as a falcon on wheels.
Each day, when Kevin walked past the car, he would stop and gaze at it for a while before continuing on his way. One day Kevin noticed a "For Sale" sign in the window of the glorious vehicle. He was elated and knew the car had to be his.
Kevin rushed inside and immediately posted an ad online to sell his car. After what seemed like an eternity, someone called him about the car he was selling. The man met Kevin, test-drove the car, and bought it.
Kevin was thrilled. He raced to his perfect car, wrote down the number from the sign, and called the owner. The owner just happened to live nearby and met Kevin outside.
"Would you like to take it for a test-drive?" the owner asked.
"No, there's no need. This car is clearly perfect in every way. Just look at it! I want to buy it right away," said Kevin. He quickly paid the man, took the keys, and did a little dance on the sidewalk.
As Kevin unlocked the door, he saw some scratches in the paint by the keyhole. oh well, he thought, I can wax those out. He got in the car and turned the key. The motor was so loud that Kevin covered his ears. I'll just turn up the radio, he thought, adjusting the volume.
Kevin drove the car down the street. After a few minutes, the car stalled. Fortunately, Kevin was able to start it again, and he took off. Suddenly, there was a huge crash so loud that it made Kevin wince- even over the noise of the radio and the motor. He looked in the mirror and saw the rear bumper sitting in the road. He stopped, picked up the bumper, and put it in the backseat.
When Kevin pulled back into traffic, smoke started to come out from under the hood. The engine had overheated. Kevin pulled over, got out of the car, and stood beside it trying to figure out what to do.
Kevin heard a honk. He looked up to see the man who bought his car drive by with a huge grin on his face. Kvin looked at his shiny, new car and thought, You aren't so perfect after all.
