Write 7.2.8 & Practice 7.2.9
This writing assignment will focus on the following skills:
Integrating quotes
Citing sources
Selecting an image or media element
Organizing your essay into paragraphs
13
Note that the questions on the Writing Guide let you know what is important to work on:
All about your visual aid.
Create parenthetical citations for each source so they are ready to roll when you need them.
Practice including direct quotes....using an intext citation and introduced with the author's name.
Paraphrase instead of using a quote.
6. 7. Write introduction, 3 body paragraphs and conclusion.
Put them all together. I'm not grading it in pieces.
14
7.2.8 pages 2-3 Visual Aid help
a visual aid/media element might be nice, but if your audience doesn't know its purpose, it might actually
be distracting.
The goal of including a media element in your paper is to convey information in a quick and clear manner. The visual you have chosen should make it easy for a reader to figure out
15
7.2.8 page 4 Plagiarism
Proper citation is helpful to readers who may want to use your source for their own purposes, but it also helps show that you've done your research and builds your credibility.
You also need to cite your sources to avoid plagiarism. If you don't cite your sources, you're basically saying the information is your own, which isn't true.
You cite when you use a direct quote, when you paraphrase an idea or when you reproduce an image or graph.
.
16
7.2.8 page 5 Parenthetical citation
Let's say you want to cite the book When Chickens Go Mad by Eleanor Edwige. A basic parenthetical citation would look something like one of these:
17
Citing from a website. page 6
18
7.2.8 pages 7 to the end
These pages help a bit more with in-text citations (parenthetical citations). page 7
When to quote and when to paraphrase. pages 8 - 10
Introductory, Body and Concluding paragraphs pages 11-15
Do not blow these pages off.... they offer you a lot of help in completing this project.
19
Rubric---- always check it!!!
The rubric is always at the end of the Writing Guide. It is there for you to use. I will grade according to its specifications. Everything that is expected is listed on it.
The Works Cited page is not graded in this assignment, but include it with information.... not web addresses...
I need the Works Cited page to grade your in-text citations (parenthetical citations).
