English grammar connection

Just as the English verb to be does not follow a pattern in the present tense (I am, you are, he/she/it is, etc.), irregular verbs in Spanish do not follow the pattern of regular or stem-changing verbs.

Irregular verbs

Dar, decir, poner, salir, traer, and venir are all irregular verbs. Only 2 of these are completely irregular. Let's take a look...

Decir

Decir has several irregular forms. Only the nosotros(as) form is regular.

Venir

Venir is similar to tener, except the nosotros(as) form has an -ir ending, while tener uses -er endings.

Other irregular verbs

Dar, poner, salir, and traer are only irregular in the yo form of their present tense conjugations. All other conjugations will follow the regular verb conjugation rules.
